WATCH: Donald Trump Calls Black Supporter ‘My African American’

At his rally in Reddings, California on Friday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pointed to a black audience member and said, “Look at my African American over here!”

At the time, Trump was in the midst of a story about a previous rally in North Carolina where a black supporter punched a protester wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit. He referred to this person as a “great guy.” A black man in the Reddings crowd then cheered and caught Trump’s attention.

“Look at him,” Trump said. “Are you the greatest?”

Trump was trying to make the point that the media made it look as if the black man in North Carolina was against Trump when in fact he was a Trump supporter, and the man in the Ku Klux Klan outfit was a Trump protester.

“We have tremendous African American support,” Trump said. “The reason is I’m going to bring jobs back to our country.”

A February 2016 poll from Fox News found that 10% of African Americans have a favorable view of Donald Trump.
