First Lady Michelle Obama is spending the week in Africa, along with daughters Sasha and Malia. The primary goal of the trip is to promote the government initiative Let Girls Learn, which aims to expand education for girls around the globe. Obama was first in Liberia to promote the program, then arrived in Morocco on Tuesday. While in Morocco, actresses Meryl Streep and Freida Pinto joined the discussion. After Morocco, Obama is leaving Africa and heading to Spain.
Obama is using Snapchat to chronicle the trip. Pinto and Streep also contributed posts on the MichelleObama account.
Let Girls Learn was founded by Obama and President Barack Obama in March 2015. It's a joint effort between the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Peace Corps. and the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Its goal is to help adolescent girls get the education and opportunities they need, especially in areas suffering from crises and conflicts. The above photo shows Obama in Liberia on June 27. (Getty)
