LIVE STREAM: President Obama, Michelle Obama Speak at United State of Women

The United State of Women White House summit is underway today in Washington, D.C. The White House has made the entire event available to stream online. President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver remarks at 2:30 p.m. ET. It will be his first public statements since the mass shooting in Orlando.

The event covers gender equality and women’s rights, and is a celebration of what women have achieved with plans for the future. Vice President Joe Biden is speaking now about Violence Against Women. Warren Buffet and Scandal star Kerry Washington are among the speakers on entrepreneurship and innovation at 12:30 p.m. Nancy Pelosi will also be on a panel called “Ideas for Action Presentations: Economic Opportunity.” Comedian Amy Poehler will be speaking on civic engagement, along with Billie Jean King and actress Sophia Bush.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be speaking with Oprah Winfrey at 5:20 p.m. in a conversation called “Trailblazing the Path for the Next Generation of Women.”

The United State of Women summit continues through June 15 from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. The topics covered are “Economic Empowerment,” “Health & Wellness,” “Educational Opportunity,” “Violence Against Women,” “Entrepreneurship & Innovation” and “Leadership & Civic Engagement.”
