The coroner’s office reported in the Alton Sterling shooting that the 37-year-old CD seller was shot multiple times in the chest and back, says Newswest 9. WLBT reported the same details.
A Baton Rouge man shot by police was hit multiple times in the chest and back, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office.
In an interview with Heavy.com, Coroner William “Beau” Clark said the chest and back wounds were “multiple entrance” wounds.
Asked if he was saying that the back wounds were also entrance wounds, Clark responded, “that’s correct.” He said that no other injuries were found on Sterling and would not say how many times Sterling was shot.
In another revelation, the news report said that a state representative contends Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie, Jr. told her that the officers’ body cameras “fell off” in the Sterling shooting and didn’t work, said Newswest 9. Read more about Dabadie here.

Sterling, a 37-year-old CD seller, was shot outside a convenience store. In a statement, the Baton Rouge Police Department has released few details of the incident, other than saying two officers are on leave and providing these details: After going to the store because they were contacted about a man with a gun, Baton Rouge police said, “Uniformed officers responded to a disturbance call from a complainant who stated that a black male who was selling music cd’s and wearing a red shirt threatened him with a gun…. An altercation between Sterling and the officers ensued. Sterling was shot during the altercation and died at the scene.”
