Who Is Hillary Clinton’s VP Running Mate Tim Kaine?

Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton VP

Hillary Clinton’s pick for her VP running mate is Tim Kaine, who spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Kaine grew up in a family of faith and humble beginnings. He told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that he believes Donald Trump is a threat to “everything we care about.” A decade ago, Klein stated publicly that he is against marriage equality when he was running for governor. Today, he says he realized that “we cannot discriminate against people” and he says that Clinton feels he’s a progressive, but also a “practical.”

Kaine is a Harvard Law School graduate and he went on to practice law for approximately two decades. Tim Kaine later became the Mayor of Richmond and then the Governor of Virginia. His wife Anne Holton was actually a state judge before becoming Virginia’s secretary of education and she is the daughter of former Virginia governor A. Linwood Holton, Jr. According to Richmond Times-Dispatch, Anne recently stepped down from her position as Virginia’s secretary of education to focus on her husband’s campaign. As for what wife Anne thinks of her husband’s running with Hillary Clinton, she spoke to ABC News on her husband’s behalf, saying:

He and I are both very excited about not just having a woman president, but having men working for the first woman president! Isn’t that exciting? And he gets that!

When Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential election, Klein admits he was a huge supporter of Obama. In turn, he accepted the position of the Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Kaine and his wife have three children together, two sons and a daughter. When joking about fatherhood during his DNC speech, Kaine prompted a ton of “dad jokes” on Twitter. Check out some of them below.

Kaine’s wife told ABC News that she and the family found the dad tweets to be hilarious, explaining:

We got home late last night and someone sent a link to the Twitter thread that went viral. One of the lines was ‘President Obama was a cool dad and Tim is a dad’s dad.’ The jokes went on and on and he and I ended the day laughing hysterically!
