Illumibowl After ‘Shark Tank’: Interview With Founder

Illumibowl, Illumi bowl, toilet light, toilet light shark tank

Illumibowl entered the Shark Tank in Season 7 with its motion-activated light that attaches to toilet bowls, shining different colors into the water. As a result, the bowl lights up so nighttime bathroom users can see without having to turn on the light.

We interviewed founder Matt Alexander who said that they’ve sold ‘several hundred thousand units’ since their Tank debut. They have also increased their market presence, partnering with retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Ace Hardware and True Value. As for Bed Bath & Beyond, he said working with the big-box retailers has been “phenomenal.” He went on to say, “They have been an amazing retail partner and demand has been massive nationwide.”

As for their their deal with Kevin, Alexander credits Mr. Wonderful with being very involved in the business. “He has helped in crucial retail negotiations, marketing and product development. We couldn’t be where we are today without him,” he explained.

So what advice does the entrepreneur have for future Tank contestants?

Go all in. Starting a successful business isn’t as hard as people think. It just takes grit. If you work hard and are willing to sacrifice and have an idea you have tested and know there is demand for, then there is nothing that can stop you from succeeding if you don’t give up. Most people don’t release how close they were before giving up. Success and freedom is easier than most people realize.
