Prior to the deadly shooting carried out by Micah Xavier Johnson that killed 5 police officers in Dallas last night, a BLM member evoked the Islamic State on social media, saying in a Facebook post that using the name of the terror group would bring more attention to their cause.
Supporters of the so-called Islamic State have since commented on the attack.
A screenshot of a post on a Dallas chapter of Black Lives Matter’s Facebook page posted by Measuray Franklin began to circulate on Twitter following the deadliest attack on police since 9/11. The screenshot was shared by author Mike Cernovich, a New York-based “lawyer and free speech activist.” It has been retweeted nearly a thousand times.
Other terrorist organizations have been trying to capitalize on the racial tension in the United States, with the most current edition of an al-Qaeda magazine centering on the shooting of Alton Sterling.
