Jackson was a 10-year veteran of the Baton Rouge Police Department, The Advocate reported. One of his friends, Darnell Murdock, told The Advocate that he loved his job, which motivated him "to go out and change people's lives."
The motive for the shooting is still unknown. Shooting was first reported just before 9 a.m. at the B-Quik gas station on Airline Highway. The suspect was seen wearing a mask and all-black clothing. East Baton Rouge Parrish Mayor-President Kip Holden said in a press conference that the shooting was an "ambushed." The suspect was killed and police said they used a robot to check to see if he was dead.
