On July 14, as Nice prepared to celebrate Bastille Day, a man drove a white truck into a crowd of people, killing at least 84 people. The man driving the truck was identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old French-Tunisian man. He reportedly drove over a mile into the crowd.
The attack earned international condemnation and was called a terrorist attack, although ISIS has not claimed responsibility yet.
