WATCH: Donald Trump Plugs Washington, D.C. Hotel During Debate

During the first presidential debate on Monday night, Donald Trump took time to plug his new hotel.

Trump mentioned in the debate that he is opening a hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue soon, saying that if he doesn’t win the election, he’ll end up on Pennsylvania Avenue anyway.

This was during a conversation about Trump’s business experience, with Hillary Clinton saying that Trump has failed to pay many of the people who have worked for him and Trump bringing up the hotel as an example of his business success. He also said that the hotel was finished under budget and ahead of schedule, which is “what this country should be doing.”

The Trump International Hotel is expected to open in October 2016. It had a soft opening on Monday, September 12th.

The hotel is located five blocks from the White House, and it is the same location where Trump held his recent press conference about birtherism. The hotel reportedly cost about $200 million, according to Fox News.

The minimum rate for a room at the Trump hotel in D.C. is $400 per night, although it was $800 when the hotel first launched, according to The New York Times. The Times recently reported that the place has been “eerily empty” since the soft launch.

“The hotel is magnificent,” Trump said, according to Fox News. “There has never been a hotel like this or even close in Washington.”
