WATCH: Ben Carson ‘Surprised’ CNN Anchor Hasn’t Heard ‘Locker Room Talk’ Like Trump’s

Although Ben Carson told CNN anchor Brianna Keilar that Donald Trump‘s lewd comments in a 2005 tape that leaked on October 7 were “abominable,” he also said that he was “surprised” she never heard “locker room talk” like Trump’s before. He later told her that it’s a “problem” that she’s never heard that kind of talk.

A surprised Keilar asked Carson if he had heard people talk like that before.

“I’ve heard people talk like that. Of course!” Carson said.

“Where are you handing out and with whom are you hanging out that you hear people talking like that?” Keilar tried to ask as Carson kept talking.

Carson was silent for a moment, before continuing. “As I was growing up, people were always trying to talk about their sexual conquests and trying to make themselves appear… you know… like the Don Cassanova. I’m surprised you haven’t heard that. I really am.”

After telling him that she’s never heard it, Carson replied twice, “Well, maybe that’s the problem.”

In the 2005 tape that surfaced, Trump and Billy Bush are heard talking about Trump’s attempt to have sex with Nancy O’Dell, even though both of them were married. Trump is also heard talking about how he can “do anything” with women because he is a celebrity. “Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything,” he tells Bush.

Since the tape was released, Trump has tried to make the case that this was “locker room talk,” a phrase he repeated several times during the debate on October 9. Trump used the phrase again during a Twitter rant Tuesday morning.

Carson ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination and endorsed Trump in March 2016.
