Obama’s Last White House State Dinner 2016: The Photos You Need to See

The photo above was uploaded by Chef Mario Batali with the caption, "The view of the Whitehouse from the state dinner "tent"! #wheeeeeestatedinner". Tuesday night's four-course menu featured Italian dishes that have been "ingrained in American cuisine", writes The Kansas City Star. Batali was reportedly asked to use mainly American ingredients-- the green apples he used for the crostat, or Italian tart, were harvested from local orchards, and American Wagyu beef was used for the pinwheels of beef. As always, Batali prepared the evening's feast in his signature orange Crocs. (Instagram/MarioBatali)
