Jerry Sandusky’s son arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a childPennsylvania State Police have arrested Jeffrey Sandusky, the 41-year-old son of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, and charged him with sexually assaulting a child.

The son of one of the most infamous pedophiles in America has himself been accused of the sexual assault of a minor. WTAJ reports that Jeffrey Sandusky, 41, was arrested in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and arraigned on February 13 on accusations that he abused a female minor. An investigation into Sandusky had begun in November 2016, according to the station. The report adds that Sandusky had faced similar accusations in 2013.

In 2011, Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of 52 counts of sexual abuse between 1994 and 2009. He had been the assistant football coach at Penn State until 1999. Following his retirement, he ran a charity, The Second Mile, out of an office at the college.

1. He Allegedly Asked the Victim to Send Pornographic Photos While Telling the Minor It Wasn’t ‘Weird Because [Sandusky] Studied Medicine’

The WTAJ report, citing the criminal complaint, says that Jeffrey Sandusky was dating the mother of the child he’s accused of abusing. TMZ reports that there are two victims “who appear to be siblings.”

The report adds that Sandusky is accused of asking the minor to send nude photos. When the minor told her father about the abuse, that’s when the investigation began. CBS Pittsburgh reports that the victim told police when Sandusky asked for the photos, the suspect it wasn’t “weird because [Sandusky] studied medicine.” The report adds that the child told officers that Sandusky “is always looking at me in weird ways, staring me up and down.”

One of the victims said that Sandusky apologized at one point for his behavior and that he “knew it was wrong,” reports TMZ. That minor said she was suspicious that Sandusky had been peeping on her in the shower. While the second victim said the was under 16 when Sandusky “solicited her for oral sex,” according to the TMZ report.

After being told delete the text messages by Sandusky, WJAC-TV reports the victim responded:

No, we don’t need to talk and we aren’t going to. You did what you did and I’m not going to give you a change to try and justify it. You literally tried to guilty me into doing it and you even told me specifically what I ‘needed’ to do.’ You know who does that?

Rapists and abusers, not (redacted) who care about their (redacted). I don’t know how many times I need to tell you no and to stop before you get it.

The suspect had been living with the mother of the child. He was asked to leave the home when the investigation began.

A 2015 feature with Bleacher Report noted that Sandusky was “recently divorced.”

In the 2015 interview with Bleacher Report, Sandusky said, “My dad is innocent. I can guarantee you that. He’s innocent. Dad himself says he had boundary issues, meaning that he’d put a hand around your shoulder, he’d have his hand on my leg. Can that be taken the wrong way? Yes, and I get it. But he was not doing it to be a creeper, a perv. No, he was doing it to say I care about you.”

Sandusky also said, “My mom and dad are amazing parents. Just amazing.” At the time of his arrest, Sandusky had been working at Rockview State Prison. He has since been suspended from that job. Sandusky began working there in August 2015.

Centre Daily reports that Sandusky’s mother, Dottie, was present in court during her son’s arraignment. She has also maintained her husband’s innocence since his 2012 conviction. In total, the Sandusky’s have six adopted children. They were married in 1966 and have also fostered children. Two sons Jon and E.J., are involved in football coaching. Jon as Director of Player Personnel at the Cleveland Browns and E.J. as an assistant coach at West Chester University.

Speaking to NBC’s Hannah Rapley, Matt Sandusky, said of his brother’s arrest, “He should not see the outside of a prison cell for the rest of his life if these allegations are true.” Matt Sandusky went on to say:

These people need to be stopped. Human beings need to rise up and say, Enough is enough. We want to pretend it’s not happening here because Jerry Sandusky was a one-off predator…That’s not the reality.

We need to take a stance and say our priority is protecting children. And we will do everything we can until that happens.

During a 2014 tell-all interview with Oprah, Matt Sandusky described the years of abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. In reference to these allegations, Jeffrey Sandusky said of his brother in the Bleacher Report interview, “Matthew is a truly good person. I care for him. I do. And I want the best for him. But this is bull. My dad is innocent. I can guarantee you that. He’s innocent.”

In 2011, Centre Daily noted that Jeffrey Sandusky was “visibly upset, with his head in his hands” after his father’s conviction and sentencing. It was widely reported in 2016 that Jerry Sandusky had launched an appeal to his 60-year sentence. In August 2016, Jerry Sandusky took the stand for the first time in his appeal and denied all of the charges, reported NBC News.

The most recent development in the case was the November 2016 fine that was handed down to Penn State over their handling of the abuse. CNN reports that the fine was $2.4 million.

5. Jeffrey Sandusky Could Face 20 Years in Prison

According to state law in Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Sandusky could face 20 years in prison on the sexual assault of a minor charge. TMZ reports that Sandusky has been ordered to stay away from minors. Documents in the case indicate that Sandusky’s charges include abuse, corruption and possession of child pornography. He’s being held at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
