A suspected tornado touched down in Goodman, Missouri on Tuesday left its fire department and elementary school damaged.
In addition to that, at least one apartment complex was damaged, Fox 23 News reported.
Amidst the storm, only one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries — a broken leg. School and activities in the area scheduled for Wednesday have been canceled and a nearby mayor is asking his residents to conserve their water due to electricity being out in Goodman.
The storm reportedly hit Goodman prior to 10 p.m. EST, and officials from McDonald County Emergency Management said that the town of Goodman is closed to “anyone who wasn’t a local.”
According to the 2010 census, Goodman has a population of 1,200 people and is in southwest Missouri, about 30 miles south of Joplin.
