WATCH: Ivanka Trump Responds to Being Called ‘Complicit’ In CBS Interview

In an exclusive interview with CBS This Morning, Ivanka Trump responded to accusations of being “complicit.”

In the interview, which took place with Gayle King, Trump says that she “doesn’t know what it means to be complicit.”

The video clip was a preview of the full interview, which will air April 5 on the show.

King asked Trump, who now holds an official position with the White House, about what it means when people say that her and her husband Jared Kushner are “complicit” to what’s happening to the White House.

King was seemingly referencing a Saturday Night Live spoof commercial where Ivanka debuts a new perfume called “Complicit.”

In her response, Trump said that with her new job, she said that she hopes that she will be able to prove she’s done a good job and make a positive impact.

If being complicit is wanting to…is wanting to be a force for good and to make a positive impact, then I’m complicit. I don’t know that the critics who may say that of me, if they found themselves in this very unique and unprecedented situation that I am now in, would do any differently than I’m doing. I hope to make a positive impact…I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and — much more importantly — that my father’s administration is the success that I know it will be.

The short clip of the interview with King caused a stir on the internet and led to the word “complicit” trending on social media.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word “complicit” directly means “helping to commit a crime or do wrong in some way.”
