WATCH: Maxine Waters Says Bill O’Reilly ‘Needs to Go to Jail’

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly should be arrested, according to Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California. In an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday night, Waters said she wasn’t surprised that President Donald Trump defended O’Reilly, even though Fox News and the O’Reilly Factor host have settled several sexual harassment allegations between 2002 and 2016.

“They need to go to jail,” the California representative said of the people who have allowed Fox News to become an alleged “sexual harassment enterprise.” “Bill O’Reilly needs to go to jail,” Waters added.

Despite the settlements, Trump told the New York Times that he didn’t think O’Reilly “did anything wrong,” adding that, “I think he shouldn’t have settled; personally I think he shouldn’t have settled.”

Waters wasn’t surprised that Trump defended O’Reilly, telling MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that they “are two of a kind.”

“It’s coming out of the mouth of someone who has said some terrible things about women,” Waters said of Trump, who was accused by dozens of women of sexual harassment during the 2016 presidential campaign. “Don’t forget he talked about grabbing women in the private parts and because he was important he could get away with it.”

Waters also said that “it’s all catching up with” O’Reilly and Fox News, referring to the dozens of companies who have pulled advertising from The O’Reilly Factor.

As for O’Reilly, he told the New York Times that he reached settlements with women because he wanted to “rest any controversies to spare my children.”

“The worst part of my job is being a target for those who would harm me and my employer, the Fox News Channel,” O’Reilly said in a statement to the Times. “Those of us in the arena are constantly at risk, as are our families and children. My primary efforts will continue to be to put forth an honest TV program and to protect those close to me.”

Just last week, O’ Reilly was criticized for saying on Fox & Friends that he couldn’t pay attention to Waters because of her “James Brown wig.” O’Reilly later apologized, saying in a statement that he “made a jest about her hair which was dumb. I apologize.”
