A large and destructive tornado touched down in southwest Georgia on April 5.
The elements of the huge storm largely affected areas near Weston and Preston, Georgia. There have been no reports of any injuries as a result of the tornado, so far.
So far, light damage has been reported to at least two buildings in Weston. One reportedly had its roof torn off, while the other completely collapsed.
Thunderstorms struck many parts of Georgia on Wednesday, with The Masters Tournament Par-3 Contest being canceled due to the wet conditions. Weston is located about 45 miles southeast of Columbus and has a population of just 75 people, according to 2000 U.S. Census data. But the population of Columbia County, where Weston is located, had an estimated population in 2016 of around 135,000 people.
