President Donald Trump will not like the latest poll numbers from Quinnipiac University. The university released new poll numbers today, showing Trump with a near record-low 36 percent approval rating. The poll was conducted between May 4 and May 9, and showed that the small approval rating bump he had after the bombing in Syria in April.

The poll did not ask questions on Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, since it was completed on the same day. However, the poll was completed after Trump scored a legislative victory when the House passed a new health care bill.

According to the poll, which asked 1,078 voters nationwide what they thought of the president’s performance, just 36 percent approve of the job Trump has done as president. Fifty-eight percent disapprove of Trump’s job performance. In the previous poll, released on April 19, Trump had a 40 percent approval rating. The new poll shows Trump just 1 percent above his record low approval rating in the April 4 poll.

April 4 April 19 May 10
Approve 35 40 36
Disapprove 57 56 58

Those polled were also asked if they thought Trump was not honest, with 61 percent agreeing with that statement. That was up 3 percent from the April 19 poll. Fifty-six percent say that he does not have good leadership skills, while 66 percent say that Trump is not level-headed. Sixty-four percent of those polled also say that Trump does not share their values.

Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said that the erosion of support for Trump from white men and white voters without college degrees is a startling rejection of Trump’s performance after 100 days. Forty-eight percent of White men polled approved of Trump’s performance, compared to 53 percent on April 19.

“The erosion of white men, white voters without college degrees and independent voters, the declaration by voters that President Donald Trump’s first 100 days were mainly a failure and deepening concerns about Trump’s honesty, intelligence and level headedness are red flags that the administration simply can’t brush away,” Malloy said in a statement.

Notably, 58 percent of voters agreed that Trump’s first 100 days in office were “mainly a failure” and only 38 percent thought they were “mainly a success.”

Those polled by Quinnipiac were also asked if they approved how Trump is handling U.S. policy towards Russia. Just 32 percent approved, and 56 disapproved. That was a sharp drop from the 37 percent approval on April 19.

Only 29 percent of those polled thought Trump can be held responsible for the current state of the economy, while 58 percent think that President Barack Obama is responsible. But notably, only 36 percent of voters think the economy is getting better.

The new Quinnipiac poll shows an approval rating much lower than other recent polls. The latest Gallup poll shows Trump’s approval rating at 40 percent. The latest Rasmussen Reports poll, released today as well, shows Trump’s approval rating at 47 percent, with 53 percent disapproved of Trump’s performance.

A new Morning Consult/Politico survey found that just 44 percent approved of Trump’s performance. That was a seven-percent drop from the April 20 poll.
