A manhunt spurred by social media was launched for popular Twitch streamer and gamer Tia “Laura Lania” Zimmer when she was reported missing after attending a party at the E3 Conference in Los Angeles on.

The search came to an end hours later when Zimmer confirmed via Twitter video that she was OK and simply decided to spend the day at a casino.

Before that, though, a friend posted to Twitter at 7:45 p.m. EDT on June 15 urging the E3 community to help find her after she hadn’t been heard from following the “Twitch Mixer” the night before.

Zimmer, who hosts broadcasts on the streaming service, was first reported missing when her friends hadn’t heard from her after the party in the LA area. She never returned back to the hotel where she was staying at, her friends said.

Here’s what you need to know:


1. Zimmer Said That She Was in a Casino the Entire Time & Wanted a Day to ‘Unwind’

Late in the evening June 15, Zimmer tweeted that she was fine and her “phones” were dead the entire time. Her tweets indicated that she was in a casino and just wanted to disconnect and relax for a day. She added that she had “no idea” there was a massive search out to locate her.

The friend that first reported her missing, Twitter user @Ashleeeeean, said she feared Zimmer’s account was “hacked” after no physical confirmation of her safety was made between the two even after the confirmation tweets were sent.

Zimmer said that she was very embarrassed by the entire situation and is considering retiring from streaming on Twitch because of the misunderstanding.


2. Zimmer Wasn’t Heard From After Attending the E3 Party

Posts shared on social media started a massive search party to locate her safely, and it spread on Twitter, reddit and Facebook as the minutes went by where she hadn’t been heard from.

Zimmer finally confirmed herself to be OK by sending out a string of tweets at around 10:30 p.m. PST on June 15. She followed it up with a picture and the video to prove it.

The group of friends that launched the search party said that they and Zimmer’s family had yet to receive official confirmation from her, so they went to the hotel to confirm she was fine.

Before the search ensued, Zimmer’s most recent tweet was sent as she was on her way to the annual Twitch party. She said, tagging two of her friends that were also going to the party, “we are going to start early because we plan on sleeping early” before arriving.

Friends said that the last time they heard from her was near the end of the party when she was about to get a ride to another club.


3. She Was Reported as Last Being ‘Very Intoxicated’ in a Lyft

Actress Shannon Baker, who was also at the Twitch party, said that her Lyft driver “swears she picked” up Zimmer and brought her to a location, adding that she appeared to be “very intoxicated.” on her way to La Brea, an L.A. nightclub.

Baker said that the driver picked up the woman thought to be Zimmer between “12-1,” and did so alone.

One Twitter user said that he may have seen her after the party near a taxi cab. He said she had a “familiar face” and may have been the wearing black shorts, as described in her attire for the evening.


4. Zimmer Is a Popular Twitch Streamer & Online Host

Zimmer’s LinkedIn account says that she has been a show host and a Twitch partner since January 2014. Her channel has almost 10,000 subscribers and 77 videos.

In her “about me” section of her LinkedIn account, Zimmer says that she enjoys “adventure” whenever possible.

According to Zimmer’s social media accounts, she once resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but now lives in Irvine, California.

In addition to being a streamer, she is a “partner” at GamerSupps, an energy drink designed for gamers.

Zimmer was also a “contributor” at Blizzplanet, a news outlet that features everything Blizzard. She’s been actively involved with the Heroes of the Storm game and says that she raised “$6,000 for the Make-A-Wish America Foundation with the HitBox.tv community.”


5. She Also Has a YouTube Channel & Leads a Dungeons & Dragons Campaign

Zimmer also has a YouTube Channel where she has over 600 subscribers and posts episodes from her popular Twitch channel.



Zimmer is also a fan of Dungeons and Dragons and formed the “Eight Legs of Lolth” campaign. As part of the campaign, Zimmer streamed herself playing the game daily to her friends.
