Who Are the Vikings Playing in the Playoffs?

UPDATE: With the Vikings win over Green Bay, they are NFC North champs and the No. 3 seed. They will host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, January 10 at 1:05 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Minnesota Vikings are in the playoffs. That much we know.

As to who they’re playing, or where they’re playing, or when they’re playing, those variables are still up in the air as we enter Week 17.

Depending both on their Sunday night contest against the Green Bay Packers, as well as the Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals game earlier in the day, there are three different routes the Vikings could take into the 2016 postseason.

We won’t know for sure Minnesota’s playoff fate until after its game is over late Sunday night, so here’s a look at all the potential scenarios:

No matter what the Seahawks do in their game, the Vikings would earn the No. 3 seed and get a rematch at home against Seattle, who made easy work of the Vikes, 38-7, back in Week 13.

The Vikings would fall to the second wild-card spot and No. 6 seed, meaning they would have to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau. Considering this would mean Minnesota would be fresh off a second-straight loss to the Packers, it’s obviously not an ideal scenario for Mike Zimmer’s squad.

The Vikings would remain the No. 5 seed, and they would be on their way to D.C. to take on the Washington Redskins in the wild-card round.
