1. Star Wars Kylo Ren Lightsaber

hottest toys for christmas 2015

Yesterday, news leaked regarding the name of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber (we won’t spoil it for you here, though). But the point is that Star Wars fans are more excited about The Force Awakens than ever before, and that means that Star Wars toys and collectibles are huge this year. Kylo Ren’s cool-looking lightsaber is surely one of the hottest toys for 2016, because it looks so much cooler than the lightsaber’s we’ve seen in the past. It has a movie-like appearance and it flicks to extend, and it’s customizable with the BladeBuilders that are in just about every major retail store.

Price: $14.99

2. Syma X5C 4 Quadcopter Drone with Camera

cheap drones

RC drones are becoming cheaper and cheaper, and more advanced by the day, it seems. The Syma X5C 4 is one of the best toy drones available, and comes in at an affordable price point under $50. It charges in 100 minutes, and has a 7 minute flight time (you’ll want to pick up a spare battery, but that’s common in the drone market). You can also check out more camera drones before making a decision, as there are plenty of cheap drones that are meant for different types of hobbyists. Drones make great gifts, especially when you can find them so cheap this holiday season. We also included the Syma X5C in our list of the best drones for kids.

Price: $38.99 (24 percent off MSRP)

3. Funko Pop Figures

Funko Pop figures

Funko Pop figures have seen a meteoric rise in popularity this year, mostly due to subscription boxes like Loot Crate (which is one of the best Christmas gifts for girls and boys this year). You can find these little guys/girls everywhere, and that’s because they come in at a fantastic price point (under $10, usually). That means you can take a bag, fill them with Funko Pop Vinyls, and you’ll still come in at a great overall price, which is what makes these some of the hottest toys for 2016. There are thousands of cutely-designed action figures stemming from just about every movie, TV show, and even from the best video games of 2015, ranging from Frozen to Game of Thrones to Batman: Arkham Knight.

Price: Starting at $6.69

4. Nerf Zombie Strike Crossfire Bow Blaster

hottest new toys 2015

The NERF Zombie Strike line of NERF toys contains some of the coolest new toy guns we’ve ever seen, but the coolest of the bunch is the new Crossfire Bow Blaster. Especially if your child is a Daryl Dixon/Walking Dead fan, the crossbow-inspired NERF is one of the hottest toys of 2016. It’s a neon green color with black and brown handle, and it shoots green darts. It comes with four darts, with more darts available separately. Best of all? It comes in at under $20.

Price: $14.97

5. Rev by Wow Wee

One of the best new toys of 2016 that you’ve probably haven’t heard of yet is the Rev by Wow Wee. It’s a kit that comes with two RC Cars (controlled by smartphones), one of which is controlled by one user and the other which can be either controlled by a friend or is controlled by A.I. That’s right — that means it’s a toy that he/she doesn’t need someone else to play with. In single player mode, players battle smart A.I. characters that can drive, think and fight all by themselves. Best of all? 16 different players can enter the game (that’s 8 kits). We highly suggest that if you plan on buying these, you might want to suggest that other family members buy their children a Rev kit too, so that they can all race and fight together. These cars are innovative and have a cool, futuristic look to them. Your kids would be crazy to not want to tear open the box and play immediately.

Price: $73.00 (26 percent off MSRP)
