Hurricane Matthew is projected to hit Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina throughout the weekend.
The projected path in the graphic above does not show the size of Hurricane Matthew, so tropical storm and hurricane force conditions could be felt long before it actually impacts an area. As of 2 p.m., its location was 25.7 N and 78.4 W, about 65 miles south southeast of Freeport, Bahamas, and 125 miles east southeast of West Palm Beach, Florida. The maximum sustained winds were 140 mph and the movement was northwest, 325 degrees at 14 mph.
Matthew should move very close to the east coast of the Florida peninsula Thursday night through Friday night. Right now, hurricane force winds extend about 60 miles from the center.
