On Friday, Burger King announced that in 2017, they would begin serving only chicken raised without the use of antibiotics, according to Fox News. Antibiotics are often fed to farm animals to help them grow and to keep them free of disease. According to Fox, however, the use of these antibiotics has led to drug-resistant pathogens called “superbugs”.
Burger King was founded in 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida, under then name “Insta-Burger King”. According to Statista, Burger King serves about 54 million customers each month in the US alone.
