2. In High School Burke Was Named a Top 20 Point Guard by ESPN

Burke attended Northland High School, in Columbus Ohio.

In High School Burke was national ranked by three different organizations prior to college. He was ranked 15th by ESPN, 20th by Scout.com, and 26th by Rivals, as one of the best point guards in the nation at the time.

As a senior, Burke averaged 23.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.6 steals, finishing the season with 639 total points. He also won a multitude of titles in high school including the 2009 OHSAA Division I State Champions and 2011 OHSAA Division I State Runner-up, helped his high school Northland to four Columbus City League titles, three District titles and two regional titles.

Burke finished his high school career with 1,291 points and a 97-5 record, accumulating the most wins by any individual player in Northland history, was a PARADE Magazine All-America, the Associated Press Ohio Mr. Basketball, OHSAA Division I Co-Player of the Year, OHSAA Division I All-State First Team, along with a multitude of other awards and accolades during high school.

As a sophomore with Michigan, Burke won all the major national player awards including the Naismith Award, the Oscar Robertson and the Wooden.

In college, Burke won the 2011–12 Big Ten Freshman of the Year award by the media, selected as a 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball All-American honorable mention, Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year in 2013, Sports Illustrated Player of the Year, as a sophomore he set the Michigan single season assist record, and led his team to the 2013 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament Final against Louisville, among other accolades.

4. Burke Was Drafted by the Timberwolves & Traded to the Jazz

After being the ninth overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft, the Timber Wolves drafted Trey Burke before trading him to the Jazz for pick number 14 and 21, and where Burke has been since.

Burke’s stats currently look like this at 21 and one year experience in the NBA:

Burke’s contract with the Jazz is $2,438,760 in the first year of the four-year deal and commanding $4,987,320 in his first two professional seasons, with Utah hold the options for the following two years.
