Liam Fitzgerald is only 8 years old, but he’s already proven that he’s a survivor that’s even tougher than Milan Lucic, the Bruins resident enforcer since Shawn Thornton was traded to the Florida Panthers.
Liam was born with Down syndrome and at 4 years old he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Now, almost 4 years later, Liam is cancer free.
On Tuesday night Liam was the guest of honor at the Bruins game against the Florida Panthers.
Liam’s Mom, Christine Fitzgerald, talked to boston.com about the touching relationship Liam has with the Bruins organization,
“I can tell you they are the nicest group of guys, the fact that they are these big, tough hockey players who take the time to talk to him. He just beams from ear to ear. It makes you love that team even more.”
The Bruins went on to win 2-1, thanks in part to the good luck fist bumps Liam gave out to each player after warm-ups.
