Brad Keselowski is adding to his resume this season. In addition to being a driver, he’ll soon be a NASCAR analyst and a father.
He’s been caught calling other drivers better than him and standing up for his opponents on Twitter.
Here’s what you need to know about him:
1.Keselowski Drives the No. 2 Car
Keselowski drives the No. 2 car, sponsored by Miller Light, for Team Penske.
He’s starting the 10th year of his career and has 32 wins, 139 Top Tens and nine poles over 215 races. Last year, he earned $11.4 million, with $10 million coming from salary and $1.4 from endorsements, according to Forbes.
His pit crew features names like Brian Wilson, Jonathan Hassler and Jerry Kelley, with Paul Wolfe as the crew chief, according to Team Penske.
2. Keselowski Called Carl Edwards the Best Driver in NASCAR
When asked for his opinion on the best driver in NASCAR, Keselowski answered with Carl Edwards, according to Sporting News. But he does put himself in the top three.
I personally think, just from watching, and I am not afraid to say it, that Carl Edwards is the best driver in Sprint Cup. That is my personal opinion. It doesn’t make it law or fact but I think (I have) to go with that. … You could probably place an argument for Kevin (Harvick) as the second best. It is a bit subjective. … I feel like I am a top-three driver in the Sprint Cup Series,” the confident Keselowski said. “I feel really good about my position week to week based on whether it is the track or rules changes. I feel like I can be either the best driver or all the way back to a 10th-place driver.
3. Keselowski Will Work for Fox This Year
Keselowski, along with Jeff Gordon, will work for Fox this season during the Xfinity Series, according to the Detroit Free Press. He will be a rotating analyst. Fox will carry the first 14 races, before it switches to NBC Sports, according to Fan Sided.
4. Keselowski Was Compared to Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Richard Childress recently compared Keselowski, according to Bleacher Report.
He’s a hard driver. I like Brad. … He’s just a hard racer. … I had a racer like that (Earnhardt, Sr.) with me once and people gave us a little heat back in the day. You just take it and go on and race to win. … You know he’s going to race you as hard as he can.
Keselowski said that the heat he gets for his style of driving is a good thing.
You know you’re doing something right in this sport when you’re racing the racing establishment (Gordon) and you make them upset. You’re racing and getting in a fight for the win, not for 20th (place). When that (happens), you’re probably doing the right thing.
5. Keselowski’s Girlfriend is Expecting Their First Child
I don’t feel like it’s changed that much with me to date. I’m excited and prepared for it. I feel really good about it. I expect it to be life-changing once the baby is born. … It’s definitely cutting into my video game time. We’re working on that night-time schedule. I can stay up all night, so I got this. I always run better at night races. … I’ve noticed there are a lot of Barbie vans in that motorhome lot. I’m sure I’ll have a Barbie van, too. … Is it going to make me pull a different move on the racetrack? Probably not. Is it going to affect my patience and outlook on topics off the track? Certainly. That’s reasonable to assume. I haven’t put that much thought into this topic outside of just looking out for the baby’s well-being and for Paige, whom I love, to take care of her. I never thought about any of the social ramifications outside of that.
