Todd McShay has been around football his entire adult life.

Still under 40, the ESPN college football/NFL Draft expert has been all over your television sets recently as the network preps for the 2015 draft, which begins Thursday, April 30.

McShay has been involved in prospect evaluating since the age of 21 and is now of the leading and most-respected in the business.

1. McShay Joined ESPN as a Football Analyst in 2006

McShay joined ESPN in 2006 as a football analyst and is one of the worldwide leader’s top NFL Draft/college football scouting gurus.

He is also the director of college football scouting for ESPN Scouts Inc. and has been evaluating NFL Draft prospect since 1998.

McShay has been part of ESPN’s NFL Draft telecasts since 2006 and in 2009, he joined the main telecast of ESPN’s draft coverage.

2. He Began Sideline Reporting in 2014

Already an established analyst and contributor across many ESPN platforms, McShay expanded his resume by adding sideline reporting to his repertoire this past season.

He worked college football games with Sean McDonough and Chris Spielman.

3. McShay Worked for a Start-Up Scouting Publication

Before ESPN, McShay worked for “The War Room,” which was a start-up scouting publication. It was created by former NFL scout Gary Horton.

It became quite popular and was used by half the NFL scouting departments. CBS and The Sporting News also used the publication for information. ESPN purchased “The War Room” in 2006 and it became Scouts Inc.



4. He Was a Quarterback at the University of Richmond

After playing quarterback for Swampscott (Massachusetts) High School from 1991-94, McShay walked on to the University of Richmond team.

He served as a backup QB for the Spiders from 1995-97 before sustaining a back injury that ended his college career.

McShay graduated from Richmond in 1999 with a B.A. in Leadership Studies.

McShay, 38, was born March 22, 1977, in Swampscott, Massachusetts.

He is married to Lauren “Lo” (Sullivan) McShay. She is a Boston University graduate and owns LoLo Event Design in the Massachusetts capital. The couple married in 2006.
