Like all the golf majors, multiple players have won multiple U.S. Open tournaments.

In fact, 52 of the 114 tournaments played have been won by 21 golfers. And 4 of those 21 players hold the record with 4 U.S. Open victories apiece.

The record-holders for most U.S. Open titles are:

Willie Anderson (Scotland) — 1901, 1903, 1904, 1905
Bobby Jones (a) (USA) — 1923, 1926, 1929, 1930
Ben Hogan (USA) — 1948, 1950, 1951, 1953
Jack Nicklaus (USA) — 1962, 1967, 1972, 1980

When the 2015 edition of the U.S. Open ends from Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, that elite group could have a new member.

While he doesn’t appear to be on his game coming off the worst 4-round tournament score of his career, Tiger Woods has a chance to join the 4-W Club with a victory. Woods has 3 U.S. Open titles, in 2000, 2002 and 2008.

Hale Irwin (1974, 1979, 1990) has also won 3.

Fifteen players have won twice. You can see who they are below.
