With training camp right around the corner, preparations are almost underway for the 2015 NFL season. The preseason officially begins Sunday, August 9 with the Hall of Fame Game. Soon after, each of the 32 NFL teams will begin their four-game schedules.
The Green Bay Packers open camp this week as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Coming off a 12-4 season, the Packers were a miracle comeback away from playing for the franchise’s third Super Bowl. Green Bay returns virtually every starter from last season and Aaron Rodgers is coming off another ridiculous season in which he threw just five interceptions.
Below is the preseason schedule for the 2015 Packers. All times are Central.
Green Bay Packers 2015 Preseason Schedule
Thursday, August 13 @ New England Patriots (6:30 p.m.)
There won’t be much of Brady vs. Rodgers in this one, but the Packers and Patriots will tangle at Foxboro in the preseason opener. The two teams narrowly missed out on playing for the Super Bowl, which would have been a rematch of a thrilling 26-21 Packers win in Week 13 last season.
Sunday, August 23 @ Pittsburgh Steelers (12 p.m.)
A rare afternoon preseason game as the Packers get a nine-day break before facing Pittsburgh in Week 2. A rematch of Super Bowl XLV, these two teams have been involved in several wild games since 2009. The Packers will get to take the offense out of the garage for a test this one . Rumors are Jermaine Gresham may be the newest tool.
Saturday, August 29 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (7 p.m.)
Perhaps the busiest team in the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles will likely see Week 3 of the preseason as a chance to work in a host of new starters. Though not a starter, Tim Tebow may be on the field as he tries to earn a roster spot in what figures to be his last chance at one. Will Tebow get a chance at quarterback or will he have a role similar to the one he had in New York with the Jets?
Thursday, September 3 vs. New Orleans Saints (6 p.m.)
The final 2015 preseason contest takes place September 3 when Green Bay hosts New Orleans. Green bay begins the regular season Sept 13 against rival Chicago. Though the starting lineup might be set in stone for the Packers, there are plenty of spots up for grabs further down the depth chart. And as soon as a starter goes down, they will be called upon to make an impact. The Packers had good injury luck in 2014, but prior to that the team needed to rely on undrafted players to come in and play vital roles.
