NASCAR at night. There’s nothing quite like it.
Not only will drivers be racing under the lights at the Irwin Tools Night Race on Saturday, but Bristol Motor Speedway has a few extra surprises in store. Fans are being asked to wear black t-shirts, while the walls will also be painted to create the “Bristol Blackout” theme.
“The Night Race is one of the most impressive spectacles in sporting events, and the sight of the track and crowd decked out in black will make it that much more amazing,” said Edward Bailey, Chevrolet’s marketing manager.
On the actual track, the Chase for the Sprint Cup is heating up with only three races remaining until the field is narrowed to 16 for the Challenger Round. Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola and possibly Kasey Kahne are battling for what looks to be the final spot, although a win from a new driver would quickly change things.
Throw in Jeff Gordn’s swan song at Bristol, and there will be no shortage of storylines when the green flag is waved.
The race starts at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. If you can’t get to a TV, here’s how to watch online and on mobile:
