Lamar Odom, after being found unconscious and fighting for his life, is finally improving and out of his coma. In fact, he’s been discharged from his hospital in Las Vegas and is being transferred to Los Angeles, E Online reported. By Saturday, he had opened his eyes, said “hello,” and was able to communicate and get off the ventilator. Odom is still in guarded condition with the Khardashian/Jenner family and his children by his side. He may have suffered multiple strokes after he was found collapsed and unconscious at Love Ranch South brothel on Tuesday, October 13. He was intubated and rushed to a Las Vegas hospital, but his heart stopped along the way and he almost didn’t make it, Radar Online reported. Doctors said he had a 50/50 chance of surviving, TMZ reported, so his current progress is amazing.
These are the latest updates and information about his medical condition.
1. He’s Off the Ventilator And Has Been Transferred to a Los Angeles Hospital, After Suffering a Stroke And Being Given a 50/50 Chance of Survival

Lamar Odom is out of his coma and some doctors are calling his recovery so far “miraculous,” E Online reported. On Monday, he was discharged from the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles. He can move his arms and legs, E Online reported, but he still can’t stand up, even with assistance.
He opened his eyes and communicated for the first time since he was found unconscious on Friday, ET reported. He responded “yes” when asked if he wanted to see his children. In addition, he was able to say “Hey baby” to Khloe and communicate by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Other reports say he’s even been able to send text messages and speak full sentences, Yahoo reported. He’s off his ventilator and able to breathe on his own, although he still needs a non rebreather mask that pumps oxygen. Despite these improvements, his condition still remains guarded and he’s not out of the woods yet, the LA Times reported. He’s going to need a lot of rehab to recover.
Odom was in such a bad state when he was first found at the brothel that his heart may have stopped more than once on the way to the hospital and he almost didn’t make it, Radar Online reported. Medical professionals had to revive him with defibrillators during the hour drive to a hospital in Las Vegas. His blood pressure was also dangerously low. Doctors had said that the longer he remained in his condition without improvement, the less likely it would be that he could recover, TMZ reported.
An MRI revealed that Odom suffered multiple strokes as a result of his collapse, TMZ reported.The strokes were “ischemic,” which occurs when a blood clot prevents blood flow to the brain. This type of stroke often occurs as a result of a cocaine overdose or an overdose from another hard drug. Doctors are now saying that he’s “neurologically intact” and a CT scan came back good, but he may still have some cognitive issues to deal with, E Online reported.
When he was brought in, doctors said that Odom only had a 50/50 chance of surviving all the medical problems that he’s currently facing. That makes the speed of his progress amazing.
2. Some Reports Say He Had “Every Drug Imaginable” In His System And Suffered Multiple Organ Failure

According to E Online, nearly “every drug imaginable” was found in Odom’s system when he was brought into the hospital. Witnesses said that crack cocaine and opiates were among the drugs he was on. He had been partying the brothel since Saturday, and was there without friends or his entourage, TMZ reported.
If all of these problems weren’t enough, Odom also suffered from four organs that were failing, including his kidneys, TMZ reported. Despite his improvement, Odom’s kidneys still require dialysis, E Online reported. However, doctors have more recently said that his kidneys are showing some signs of improvement.
Doctors may not know the full extent of the kidney damage for weeks or months, New York Daily News reported. The kidney failure was likely caused by his drug use, doctors said, rather than high blood pressure or diabetes. When kidney damage is caused by drug use or trauma, the kidneys have a better chance of improving over time.
Jesse Jackson visited Odom for about three minutes to pray for him the day after he was admitted in Los Angeles, and then told the media that Odom was improving and had signs of consciousness. However, TMZ reported that at that time, Jackson’s information was completely wrong.
3. Odom May Have Been Taking Herbal Viagra, Known to Be Dangerous When Mixed with Alcohol And Other Drugs

When Odom was first found at the Love Ranch South around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, he had mucus-like liquid coming out of his mouth and nose. He was stabilized and intubated by paramedics and was going to be airlifted to a hospital, but he was too tall and had to be transferred by ambulance instead.
Reports, including the 911 calls, said he may have been taking herbal Viagra and cocaine, in addition to other drugs that the hospital found in his system, E Online reported. The FDA has been targeting herbal Viagra because it’s so dangerous, NBC News reported. According to the brothel’s NSFW website, it hosts Viagra parties. The Mayo Clinic has warned that herbal Viagra can be toxic if taken in large quantities.
4. During the 911 Calls From the Brothel, an Employee Said Odom Had Been Using Cocaine

The 911 calls made after Love Ranch South employees found Odom have been released (listen to them here.) During one call, an employee said that Odom had admitted he had used cocaine days before on Saturday, TMZ reported. A female employee said during one of the calls that he had taken 10 herbal Viagra supplements over three days, CNN reported. During the call, the dispatcher was told that Odom was found lying on his side with pinkish fluid coming from his nose and mouth.
Dennis Hof, the Love Ranch South owner, said that when the paramedics took Odom to the hospital, they said that he didn’t look like he would make it, but if he did then he wouldn’t be the same, CNN reported.
Doctors found cocaine in Odom’s system and the Nye County Sheriff’s Department got a search warrant to draw blood and test it for drugs. If drugs are found in their test, it’s possible that he will be prosecuted if he survives, TMZ reported.
5. Despite Everything, Khloe Kardashian Has Been By His Side in the Hospital

Despite the news reports that Odom was partying with a couple girls and possibly taking drugs at the Love Ranch South before he was found unconscious, Khloe Kardashian has been by his side since she found out the news. His marriage to Khloe fell apart due to infidelity and drugs, but although they both signed divorce papers in July, the judge had not yet signed the papers so the divorce isn’t finalized, CNN reported. Because of this, Khloe will be making the medical decisions for her husband. Kim and Khloe traveled to the hospital immediately and have been waiting and hoping for Odom to pull through. His estranged father and his two children were also at the hospital. Khloe flew with Odom when he was transferred to Los Angeles.
Odom squeezed Khloe’s hand on Wednesday night, October 14, his first sign of improvement before he said “Hey, baby” to her on Friday, TMZ reported.
