The NFL is back for Week 4 and once again the OddsShark Computer is picking more underdogs than favorites – including four underdogs to win outright.
Three of the four underdogs are home teams, with one neutral site game. The Miami Dolphins are 1-point underdogs to the New York Jets, but the game is taking place at Wembley Stadium in London. The computer predicts a Dolphins win, 25.6-19.6.
The Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington Redskins all are true home teams about to pull off upsets according to the computer. The Bears are a 3-point underdog to the Raiders thanks to Jay Cutler’s continued absence. The computer has them winning a close one, 21.1-19.4.
The Bucs are 3-point underdogs against the Carolina Panthers, but the computer has them edging out the favorite 21-20.2. Washington is also a field goal underdog at home against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the computer predicts a fairly comfortable Redskins win, 25.3-18.7.
The biggest win predicted by the computer comes in the NFC West matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. The 3-0 Cardinals host the 1-2 Rams as a 7-point betting favorite. The OddsShark Computer predicts the Cardinals rolling by a score of 30.2-16.8.
Sunday will feature four different touchdown-plus underdogs covering the spread, according to the computer The Indianapolis Colts play their second straight divisional matchup, hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars as a 9-point favorite. The computer predicts a 26.7-18.5 Colts win but Jaguars cover.
The Denver Broncos host the Minnesota Vikings as a touchdown favorite. The computer predicts just a 19.6-16 Broncos win. The San Francisco 49ers host the Green Bay Packers as an 8.5-point underdog. Home underdogs of at least seven points since 2007 are 90-68-4 ATS; the computer predicts a 23.3-18.3 Packers win, but 49ers cover.
Sunday Night Football features the New Orleans Saints hosting the Dallas Cowboys. The line was not determined by Thursday due to the questions surrounding Drew Brees’ shoulder. His injury status will be determined on Friday, and then his playing status likely will not be known until inactives are announced on Sunday. The OddsShark Computer projected a 20.9-17.9 Saints victory.
Week 4 comes to a close with the Seattle Seahawks hosting the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The Seahawks are a 10-point favorite, marking the second straight week in which they are a double-digit favorite. The computer predicts a narrow Lions cover, with the Seahawks winning 25.1-15.6.
