Dominating Effort by Freeman, Falcons Offense Dooms Texans in Atlanta

Devonta Freeman had 149 all purpose yards and three touchdowns for the Falcons, as they moved to 4-0 with a convincing 48-21 win over the Texans at home on Sunday afternoon.

The Texans trailed 42-0 before scoring three unanswered touchdowns late in the game, all at the hands of quarterback Brian Hoyer, who came in to relieve starter Ryan Mallett at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Hoyer finished with 231 yards passing and two scores in the final frame. The Texans dropped to 1-3 on the year.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan finished 19-for-27 with 256 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons, and Ryan led a balanced attack as he hit six different receivers with his 19 completions.

Falcons wideout Julio Jones was quiet for the first time in 2015, finishing with just four catches for 38 yards after recording at least 135 yards receiving in each of the first three weeks of the season.

Chris Polk got a 1-yard score to make the score a little less lopsided in Atlanta. The Texans have looked a bit more effective under quarterback Brian Hoyer’s leadership in the fourth quarter since starter Ryan Mallett got benched.

It’s all but over in Atlanta, but Brian Hoyer came in at quarterback for Houston replacing starter Ryan Mallett.

C.J. Fiedorowicz caught a 5-yard pass From Hoyer for 5 yards to get the Texans on the board. It’s 42-7 in the fourth.

Running back Terron Ward got on the board, as he scored a touchdown in what looks to be extended garbage time in Atlanta. The Falcons lead near the end of the third quarter 42-0 over the Texans.


Devonta Freeman’s Third TD Puts Falcons Ahead by 5 Scores in the Third

Devonta Freemen scored on a 6-yard rush, his third touchdown of the day, as he continues to lead the Falcons’ offense in their drubbing of the Texans.

Freeman has 13 carries for 66 yards to go along with five receptions for 81 yards.

The Falcons lead big as running back Devonta Freeman has two touchdowns and 53 yards, while quarterback Matt Ryan has 168 yards and a touchdown.

Ryan Mallett is just 10 of 21 for 117 yards for the Texans who have struggled to find any rhythm on offense. Running back Alfred Blue has 10 yards rushing for the Texans.

Arian Foster fumbled, leading to a recovery by Atlanta’s Desmond Trufant at the Houston 24-yard line. Trufant scooped it up for a 24 yard touchdown, and Atlanta was riding high at home.

The Falcons are soaring and thinking playoffs. The Texans are struggling and thinking about who their quarterback should be, though it looks like it’ll be Ryan Mallett again in Week 4, despite a “chest issue”.

Falcons sideout Julio Jones has hamstring and two issues of his own. Jones, who’s off to a historic start to 2015, has been one of the main catalysts for Atlanta in their 3-0 start.

If Jones does suit up, it could be a long day for the Houston defensive backs.
