Eli Manning and the New York Giants are aiming to keep pace in the NFC East as they visit the Miami Dolphins in an interconference Monday Night Football betting matchup.
In a matchup of teams with identical records, the Giants are listed as 2.5-point favorites against the Dolphins at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Giants are 5-1 straight up in their last six games against the Dolphins, but the favored team is 0-5 against the spread in its last five games in this matchup. A win would keep the Giants in a three-way tie with Philadelphia and Washington in the NFC East race.
New York, which is 5-7 SU and 6-5-1 ATS, can take heart in knowing that Manning and dynamic WR Odell Beckham Jr. are facing a Dolphins defense that allows a generous 7.7 yards per pass. Manning has a 7-to-6 TD/interception ratio over his last four games and will be looking to be smarter with the football. The Giants are on a three-loss skid, but are one of the better teams at taking care of the football with a +9 takeaway/giveaway ratio, compared to the Dolphins’ -3.
New York needs some semblance of offensive balance. They have a chance to strike that against a run defense that gives up 4.2 YPC. Defensively, the Giants need the likes of CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to limit their propensity for allowing big plays.
The Dolphins, who are 5-7 SU and 4-8 ATS, have had an uneven season. Miami is 1-7 SU in their last eight games after a win, as well as 1-7 ATS in their last eight games at Sun Life Stadium. The law of averages would dictate that QB Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins should buck those trends sooner rather than later.
Miami has been an enigma offensively, but RB Lamar Miller can be very influential and WR Jarvis Landry is a big-play threat with nine rushes and receptions of 20-plus yards. Landry’s elusiveness on punt returns is an X factor.
The Dolphins are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last six MNF games.
The total for Monday night’s Giants vs. Dolphins betting matchup is set at 46.5 points at the sportsbooks. The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Giants’ last nine December road games. The total has gone UNDER in 10 of the Dolphins’ last 14 December games.
