You can expect a lot of the early money to be on the Panthers giving up 3.5 points. As RJ Bell noted, there are some places that already have them as bigger favorites:
Not only did they run rampant over the rest of the NFL en route to a 15-1 record, but they have looked pretty dominant in the postseason against the Cardinals and Seahawks, two teams that were mentioned as Super Bowl favorites at various points throughout the year.
Ron Rivera’s squad has a quarterback who’s playing at an MVP level, a really strong running game and a defense that features All-Pro players (Kawann Short, Luke Kuechly, Josh Norman) at all three levels.
The Broncos, meanwhile, counter with the league’s best defense that will always keep them in games, but Peyton Manning and the offense have been anything but consistent this season.
It’s not surprising that oddsmakers like Carolina, but as we’ve seen all year in the NFL, all bets are off once the ball is kicked off.
