Tom Brady and Peyton Manning faced off in the 2016 AFC championship game marking the 17th time the two have squared off during their careers. The matchup brings all sorts of comparisons to the table, but one of the biggest comparisons is the amount of Super Bowl rings between the quarterbacks.
Brady has a large lead in this category. He has won four championships while Manning has only won one ring.
Brady led the Patriots to victory in Super Bowls XXXI,XXXIX, XXXVII and XLIX. He was on the losing end in two additional Super Bowls XLII and XLVI giving him a 4-2 record in his six Super Bowl appearances.
Manning has not had the level of postseason success that Brady has achieved. He is just 1-2 in his three Super Bowl appearances. Manning’s lone Super Bowl victory came in Super Bowl XLI during his tenure with the Colts. They defeated the Bears and Manning was the Super Bowl MVP.
Manning and the Colts were defeated in Super Bowl XLVI by the Saints. He has one Super Bowl appearance with the Broncos and it did not go well. The Broncos were demolished in Super Bowl XLVIII by the Seahawks.
The 2016 AFC championship marked the fifth time the two have played in the playoffs. The two quarterbacks have split the previous four playoff matchups, but Manning has won two of the three previous AFC title games.
