Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized and fans are in a frenzy as rumors swirl about Ali being close to death. Has Muhammad Ali passed away? The answer is yes.
Ali’s friend Tim Shanahan spoke to The Mirror about Ali, stating:
Now Muhammad Ali, your room in heaven is right next to God’s master bedroom in his mansion in heaven. Thank you for giving the world the Greatest Love of All.
According to USA Today, Ali was hospitalized Thursday in the Phoenix, Arizona area, with respiratory issues but was initially listed to be in fair condition. Radar Online reported today that Ali had been placed on life support, with an insider revealing:
Doctors are telling the family that it likely won’t be long until he passes away … He needs every bit of fight he’s got left to survive.
Radar also reported that Ali was initially sent to the hospital when he was discovered “barely breathing” at his home.
Since 1985, Ali has suffered from Parkinson’s disease, but the Associated Press has reported that Ali may have been battling other serious health issues as well. In addition, the AP stated that Ali’s respiratory issues may have been complicated by his Parkinson’s. An insider expanded on this, telling the Mirror:
Like in the ring, Ali is a fighter on the ward. Doctors are working to regulate his breathing put it is being hampered by his Parkinson’s. His children are all extremely concerned and dropped everything to be with him. They fear the worst … Ali is everything to them and there are worried his problems are worse than first feared.
Ali’s Parkinson’s diagnosis came just four years after his retirement from boxing.
