WATCH: LeBron James & The Cavs Touch Down in Cleveland

LeBron James and the Cavaliers touched down in Cleveland on Monday afternoon to the screams and cheers of a thankful Cavs nation and city that had waited 52 years for a championship. They finally got it as James emerged from the team plane and thrusted the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy into the air for all to see.

The Cavs players and coaches made a slight detour after winning Game 7, carrying on the celebration in Las Vegas. They then hopped back on the plane and landed in Cleveland just after 1 p.m., according to Fox 8 News. A giant hose sprayed water over the plane as it rolled in to salute the team that had brought the Cavaliers franchise its first championship and done so in historic fashion, coming back from a three to one game deficit in the finals.

The city of Cleveland will officially celebrate the Cavaliers win with a parade downtown on Wednesday. Mayor Frank Jackson told ABC 5 News that he didn’t want to “jinx” the Cavs chances by pre-planning a parade and specific details on the celebration have not been announced.

Fans in Cleveland have celebrated plenty in the hours since the final buzzer sounded in Oracle Arena nearly 2,500 miles away. The city shut down most of the streets around the Quicken Loans Arena where the Cavs call home and fans were lined up early on Wednesday at the XL Center awaiting their teams arrival.

Fans of The King also lined the road leading to James’ family home in Akron, according to Fox 8 News. He stepped out of the caravan and addressed crowd waiting for him.

That championship wasn’t just for the 15 guys, the coaching staff and everybody that traveled with us, but that championship was for everyone in northeast Ohio and you guys should feel proud of that. And lastly, because I’m so tired, I haven’t slept at all… I just always want you guys to remember that I’m just a kid from Akron, Ohio.
