Here's the world golf ranking of the last nine major winners: 8th (Rory McIlroy), 1st (McIlroy), 4th (Jordan Spieth), 2nd (Spieth), 25th (Zach Johnson), 5th (Jason Day), 12th (Danny Willett), 6th (Dustin Johnson) and 6th (Henrik Stenson). Even though five of those were first-time winners, only one of the last nine champions have come from outside the Top 12 in the OWGR, as the cream of the golf world has been rising to the top of the leaderboard on the biggest stages. Add in the fact that that at least one of the "Big Four" seem to be in contention almost every weekend, and it's difficult to put a lot of faith in sleeper picks for the PGA Championship.
