Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, will retire after the 2016 baseball season.
The Boston Red Sox DH has been remarkable this season, leading the AL in doubles (31), RBIs (63), slugging percentage (.672) and OPS (1.103).
Ortiz has been dominant at the plate throughout his 19-year career, scoring 521 homers. He owns three World Series rings and a special 2013 World Series MVP ring. Ortiz has earned approximately $143.500 million during his major league career.
The 41-year-old player made history, joining only 10 position players in Red Sox history who played beyond their 40th birthday.
It’s been a storied career, but Ortiz leads a full life off the diamond as well. He’s a husband, and father of three. And similar to the game of baseball, his personal life has had its ups and downs. Ortiz and Tiffany, his wife of 13 years, hit a rough patch in their marriage in 2013 and even contemplated divorce. However, they worked through the difficult stretch and have been back together since 2014. Click through the gallery to see and learn more about Tiffany, and her relationship with Ortiz. (Getty)
