In addition to several other hobbies, Solares enjoys painting and is a talented artist. In addition to his exhibits, Oregon Live reports that Solares has two murals for Oregon State University and another for the Portland Mercado.

After Rowbury and Solares married, the San Francisco Chronicle reports her saying:

I’d love to be on ‘The Amazing Race’ with my husband.

One project that the couple is in on together is their nonprofit, Imagining More, which awards scholarships to girls interested in the arts as well as athletics.

3. Rowbury’s Husband Is an Accomplished Athlete As Well

While Rowbury specializes in track and field, her husband is a runner as well. Solares is a middle distance runner, who holds the Mexican records for the 800 meters, 1500 meters and indoor mile.

4. He Works For Merrill Lynch

Solares majored in Economics and graduated in 2008 from from University before going on to get his Master’s in Finance from ITESM Campus Monterrey. And so, it makes sense that he entered into a career in the field, working as a Financial Planner at Merrill Lynch.

Rowbury and Solares have their own wedding website on The Knot and on the site, Solares describes his proposal to Rowbury, stating that:

After visiting a couple of museums, having brunch at the farmers’ market near the Waterloo Station, and walking around the city on a “typical” rainy day in London, I suggested to stop at the “unexpected” and newly installed LOVE sculpture near the London Bridge to take some pictures. When it was time for Shannon to take a picture of me, I asked Shannon to go over my picture of her to make sure that she liked it. To her surprise, I had made a video playing notecards explaining the reasons why Shannon is my perfect life partner. Once the video was over, I got down on one knee and proposed marriage to Shannon.

The couple got engaged on August 24, 2013, with the proposal going down at the LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana in London.
