WATCH: Robin Van Persie Eyelid Injury for Fenerbache

Former Manchester United suffered a horrific eyelid injury while playing for Fenerbache against Akhisar Belediyespor. The incident happened on November 6. Reports from Turkey indicate that while the injury looks gruesome, the prognosis is good although surgery will be required. In a statement, his club said that Van Persie did not suffer any permanent vision damage.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, images flooded social media showing Van Persie being carried off the field with a bloodied face. Live footage was shown of RVP being taken outside of the stadium to an ambulance that apparently took 15 minutes to arrive:

Fenerbache ended up winning the game 3-1. The goal came after 26 minutes, the former Manchester United striker picked up his injury after 39 minutes.
