It has been a challenging time for Isaiah Thomas after losing his sister, Chyna, to a tragic car accident. Through it all, his wife Kayla Thomas (formerly Wallace) along with his two sons, James and Jaiden, have been by Isaiah's side. The family has received an outpouring of support from people everywhere including from the Boston Celtics. Coach Brad Stevens spoke with Mass Live about how much they value Isaiah and want to be there for his family in their time of need. "He's a big part of it. Isaiah's a great teammate. Isaiah's a great husband. He's a great father. He's a great guy, great son and brother. And I think ultimately we just all tried to do our part in letting him know we were thinking about him, and anything we could all do to help we'd do, that family and this particular situation with his family takes precedent over everything else going on. And that we're here for him if he needs us," Stevens told Mass Live. While the family has been very private since Chyna's passing, they frequently post photos on social media of their various family activities. From Kayla and Isaiah's date night to being silly with the two kids, they have allowed fans to get a glimpse into the life of the Thomas family.
The couple recently took the next step in their longtime relationship by getting married in August 2016. It was a festive event in Seattle as the couple was joined by Isaiah's NBA teammates as well as other celebrities like Floyd Mayweather. On the court, the 2016-17 season was the best of Isaiah's career. He averaged 28.9 points, 5.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds during the season while leading the Celtics to the best record in the Eastern Conference. Isaiah also made his second All-Star appearance, a remarkable feat for a player that was selected last in the 2011 NBA draft. Kayla has had success in her own right. She is a certified teacher and graduated from Central Washington University. The couple may live in Boston but have roots in the Pacific Northwest as their Seattle wedding proved.
