Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor
The first big match expected for 'Payback' is one between Kevin Owens and Finn Balor. Of course, you may be wondering how this can be considering this week on 'Raw,' it was announced that Chris Jericho will face Kevin Owens in a rematch for the United States Championship at 'Payback.'
Well, that was before Jericho was attacked backstage and "injured" to the point that he couldn't compete in the main event. It seems that this was the WWE's way of writing him off television; Jericho was always expected to take a hiatus from the WWE after WrestleMania, as he is going on tour with his band.
Finn Balor ended up replacing Chris Jericho in the main event this week, and it seems Balor will also replace Chris Jericho in this match for the United States Championship.
The feud here really does write itself. When Finn Balor was forced to vacate his newly-won Universal Championship back in August due to a legitimate injury, that championship was immediately handed over to Kevin Owens, who only won it due to the interference of Triple H on 'Raw.' Balor will likely feel that Owens was not a worthy successor to him and that he gives the 'Raw' superstars a bad name.
However, Finn Balor has not yet had a promo since he returned, and so we'll likely hear more about this, and more about his opinion of Kevin Owens, next week on 'Raw.' (WWE)
