WWE superstar Rusev has been absent from television since February, when he had a match against Big Show at Fastlane. So where has Rusev been since then, and when will he return?
Rusev has been gone due to a real life shoulder injury; he received surgery on his shoulder last month, with the Wrestling Observer via Sportskeeda reporting that Rusev actually needed this surgery for months.
“He just started working out again. He’s really excited about that,” she said. “Yesterday he went to the gym and did two separate hours of cardio. So I’m glad he’s feeling better…[He’s expected back in] 2 to 4 months, somewhere around there. Yeah. That’s what they said.”
Lana typically introduces Rusev and accompanies him at ringside, and so with Rusev gone for the past few weeks, we also have not seen Lana since February.
Rusev in 2016 was the WWE United States Champion; he won that title at Extreme Rules on May 22nd, 2016. At Clash of Champions, Rusev lost the championship to Roman Reigns. The current United States Champion is Kevin Owens, who won it by defeating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 33.
