Aaron Hernandez’s suicide note to his fiancee has been released. Prosecutors released the note on May 5, three weeks after the former Patriots star was found dead in his prison cell. His death has been ruled suicide by hanging.
The released note was written to Hernandez’s fiancee Shayanna Jenkins. He refers to her as his “soul-mate” and his “true love.” Hernandez writes, “I love you so much you know you are on angel.” A redacted name is also mentioned lovingly. The couple had a daughter together. Other notable lines include, “I told you what was coming indirectly.” Another sentence reads, “I love you. This was the supreme’s, the almighty’s plan, not mine.”
The letter concludes with, “Looks after [Redacted] and [Redacted] for me – those are my boys (You’re rich.)” The Boston Herald reported on April 27 that Aaron Hernandez’s estate is literally worthless.
It had been reported that Hernandez left three notes, one for Shayanna Jenkins, one for his daughter and one for an alleged gay lover.
The letter finishes with a reference to Savage Garden’s song, “I Knew I Loved You.”
The note in full reads:
You have alway been my soul-mate and I want you to live life and know I’m always with you. I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know you are an angel – literally!
We split into two to come change the world! Your characteristics is that of a true angel and the definition of God’s love!
Tell my story fully but never think anything besides how much I love you. This was the Supreme’s, the Almighty’s plan, not mine! I love you! Let [Redacted] know how much I love her! Look after [Redacted] and [Redacted] for me – Those are my boys. (YOU’RE RICH) I knew I loved you = Savage Garden.
Hernandez’s brain has been donated to the Boston University where researchers will work to discover if the former tight end suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy. His body was cremated on April 24 in his native Bristol, Connecticut.
