When Conor McGregor steps into a boxing ring for the first time Saturday, he won’t only have the support of his home country of Ireland and the millions of others watching his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. He’ll also be supported, as he always has been, by his longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin and their son, Jack Mcgregor.
Devlin has been there when McGregor was just starting his MMA career and trying to make a name for himself. Like McGregor, Devlin, 30, is from Dublin. It’s become the norm to see her at the fighter’s side ever dating back to when he was an unknown in the MMA world.
McGregor has spoken out about the support Devlin has provided him over the years, saying that she has “worked very hard throughout the years and stuck by me when I had essentially absolutely nothing,” The Daily Mirror reported. “I only had a dream that I was telling her. For me to be able to take her out of work, give her everything she’s ever wanted and to travel the world with her fills me with pride. It keeps me going.”
For her 28th birthday, McGregor surprised Devlin with a day of shopping and a night out in Las Vegas. The party included multiple bottles of champagne and a massive cupcake with a sparkler in it.
Devlin isn’t shy about posting about her relationship with McGregor to her social media profiles, with photos of their explorations and gifts filling her Instagram page.
When McGregor turned 27-years old in July 2015, Devlin posted a birthday wish to him. Just two days before that on July 12, 2015, McGregor claimed UFC gold for his first time. She shared an emotional congratulations message to him for achieving his dream of being a champion.
