Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon is already in midseason form. I guess technically, athleticism like what the Magic playmaker has doesn’t go away at any point, but it was on full display in the team’s preseason game Monday.
Gordon went up and pulled a beautiful Dr. J finish around Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, courtesy of the NBA.
Here’s a look at the play from a different angle, which makes it even more impressive from Gordon.
Gordon has flashed tremendous upside throughout his four-year career after being the No. 4 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He’s progressively gotten better, although injuries slowed him down a bit last season, resulting in Gordon missing 24 games. In the 58 appearances he did have, the 23-year-old averaged 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Heading into year No. 5, Gordon looks to become one of the top forwards in the league. Based on the fact that he received a nice four-year, $80 million deal (per Spotrac), it seems the Magic believe he’s primed for a very bright future.
