Ohio State’s upset loss to Michigan State impacts the Big Ten championship as well as the College Football Playoff. Unless Michigan State loses to Penn State next week, it will be Michigan State taking on Iowa in the Big Ten championship game.

The combination of Ohio State’s loss to Michigan State along with in all likelihood their inability to win their conference will likely keep them out of the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes have one of the weaker strength of schedules of any of the top teams. Their schedule is ranked 57th in the country.

Ohio State was ranked 3rd in the last College Football Playoff rankings. Depending on how the rest of Saturday’s games go, Ohio State will fall out of the top five and land somewhere around 6th or 7th. Buckeyes fans will have to wait until Tuesday, November 24th for the latest set of rankings.

While the polls are not considered in the College Football Playoff rankings, the Buckeyes were second in the AP Poll before losing to Michigan State. When Sunday’s poll comes out, the Buckeyes will likely find themselves outside the top five.

Ohio State no longer controls its own destiny and will need absolute chaos to happen on the last week of the college football regular season.
