The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2-1) look to extract a bit of revenge against the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6) at TIAA Bank Field as Week 11 action continues on Sunday afternoon.
The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS in select areas (coverage map here). The Jaguars stunned the Steelers 45-42 in the Divisional Round in January, eliminating the black and gold from the postseason.
Despite the Jaguars recent struggles on defense, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is still preparing for a stiff, challenging test.
“They are arguably still the very best defense in football. They do not give up big plays. We’re playing well offensively when we are getting big plays. They specialize in minimizing big plays. Hunting big plays versus these guys, you do so at a risk because their rush is so formidable. As you hunt big plays, these guys impact the game in a negative way in terms of sacks, fumbles, and so forth.”
Pittsburgh learned this week running back Le’Veon Bell would not report to the team. Bell is ineligible to play the remainder of the 2018 season, and will become an unrestricted free agent after this season is over.
James Conner has performed admirably in his place, accumulating 1,158 total yards (771 rushing), with 11 touchdowns (one receiving). Conner, who reportedly sustained a concussion last week, was a full participant in practice this week and looks likely to play Sunday.
After starting 3-1, controlling first place in the AFC South, Jacksonville has lost five straight games. A loss would likely take the Jaguars to the brink of playoff elimination in November, though having running back Leonard Fournette (hamstring) healthy down the stretch will undoubtedly help Blake Bortles and the rest of the offense.
